WHAT WE DO

The Fishers Island Fund is devoting its initial efforts toward energy efficiency on the Island. Next to housing, the cost of energy is very high on the list of barriers to maintaining and increasing the year-round resident population.  The recent passage of the Inflation Reduction Act provides incentives to renters and property owners. The Fund's first initiative is to disseminate detailed information about the IRA to the Island in the belief that eligible residents can benefit.

Our Focus

Our Focus

1

A description of the new Inflation Reduction Act and its applicability to Fishers Island

The new federal legislation provides very generous incentives to homeowners and renters to take steps to improve energy efficiency.

2

The Fishers Island Fund sponsorship of energy efficienicy internships for juniors and seniors at Fishers Island School

Students who apply and are accepted will learn about basic energy efficiency and spread their knowledge and maybe even enthusiasm to friends and family

3

The "Heat Pump' as the salient element  in energy conservation.

Heat pumps are special contraptions that move heat rather than produce it or get rid of it. As a result, it can be a very efficient alternative to space heating using fuel oil or propane.

New York State is setting a deadline for all electric heating

The IRA has incentives for everyone

While many incentives are income gated, the IRA has tax credit incentives for most

Area Median Income (AMI)
80%= $90K/year
80%-150% =$90K-$135K/year
